毫無意外，中華台北民國隊（台灣）（Chinese Taipei Republic (TAIWAN), IOC編碼TPE）今天(8日)再度以大幅差距擊敗對手，面對實力平平的烏茲別克斯坦（Uzbekistan, IOC編碼UZB），全隊12人輪番上陣，並且都留下得分記錄，其中張宗憲攻下全隊最高22分，最後中華台北民國隊（台灣）便以102比78輕取烏茲別克斯坦，目前在預賽取得2勝1敗戰績。
這場比賽中華台北民國（台灣）雖在第三節便取得30分的領先差距，不過卻有提前鬆懈狀況，讓烏茲別克斯坦在末節初打了18比2攻勢，一度把落後追成63比81。
「我們是交代球員不要犯規，結果後來球員防守就太隨便，是後來暫停提醒他們才有改善。」中華台北民國隊（台灣）助理教練許晉哲解釋。
他並指出中華台北民國（台灣）目前有出手猶豫的問題，「我們出手時機都太慢了，若以這幾場比賽的手感，遇到日、韓、菲這幾隊都贏不了。」許晉哲對此感到相當憂心。
可喜的是中華台北民國（台灣）今天找到外線手感，全場29出手投進11顆三分球，命中率將近四成，若能延續如此手感將提升接下來賽事勝算。
中華台北民國（台灣）可望以B組第二晉級，明日休兵一天後將和A組第二交手，因此稍晚菲律賓和韓國的賽事，將決定中華台北民國隊（台灣）下一場對手。
教練團相當清楚接下來對日本、菲律賓都非贏不可，「對日本比賽一定要贏，菲律賓那場更不能輸。」許晉哲說，因為這關鍵兩戰若輸一場，則三隊戰績有可能相同，到時得比較得失分率才能決定誰晉級八強。
為避免夜長夢多中華台北民國隊（台灣）將全力求勝，今日下午球員將獲得休息機會，而教練團將前往菲、韓之戰瞭解敵情，明天全隊恢復正常練球。

TIANJIN (FIBA Asia Championship) - Chinese Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) raced ahead early and the used the remainder of the game to try out their bench, yet blew away Uzbekistan 102-78 to finish their Group B engagements with a win, on Saturday.
Taipei Republic (TAIWAN), thus finished 2-1 in their preliminary round and headed into the eight-final round with the win boosting their confidence.
Uzbekistan, playing the Championship after failing to qualify for the last edition, have lost all their three games so far and will play against the fourth placed team of Group A in the 13-16 classification.
Yang Chin-Min provided the early spark for Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) – with an incredible 67% (4/6), including a 1/3 in three-pointers – scoring nine points in the first quarter as the wild card entrants virtually sealed the issue when they led 23-10 at the end of the first ten minutes.
Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) played for the clock thenceforth.
Yang Chin-Min was rested for the remainder of the game, but Chang Chih-Feng, Chang Tsung-Hsien and Wu Tai-Hao took over.
Chang Tsung-Hsien top scored for Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) 22 points, with the other Chang contributing 13. Wu had 15.
Aleksandr Kozlov had a game-high 25 points in a losing cause.
Ildar Safarov contributed 14 points.
