“曾哥”在這場關鍵比賽中表現不俗
騰訊体育訊北京時間8月12日，第25屆天津亞洲男籃錦標賽第二階段的比賽進入第三比賽日，在下午結束的一場E組的比賽中，中國台北共和國（台灣）男籃以99-79戰勝日本男籃。臺北國（台灣）以E組第四的身份晉級八強，在四分之一決賽中，他們的對手將在中國和約旦之間產生。而日本只能和同組的科威特一起，去參加9-12名的爭奪。
臺北國（台灣）六人得分上雙，曾文鼎得到20分和10個籃板，李學林得到16分和5個籃板，田壘得到16分和9個籃板，陳子威得到13分，張智峰得到12分，林志傑也有10分入賬。日本這邊，竹內讓次18分和7個籃板，五十嵐圭18分，折茂武彥15分。
本場比賽之前兩隊同積5分，所以勝者將以小組第四的身份進入八強，而負者只能參加9-12名的爭奪。開場後臺北國（台灣）手感不佳，竹內讓次命中三分後，日本取得5-0的開局。田壘空切上籃得分，臺北國（台灣）逐漸進入比賽狀態。此後田壘狀態神勇拿下5分，幫助臺北國（台灣）將比分反超為13-12。臺北國（台灣）越打越順利，之後李學林又打三分成功。暫停後日本採取全場緊逼，但這並不能有效阻止臺北國（台灣）的進攻，張智峰上籃得手，曾文鼎補籃得分後，中華已經將分差擴大到7分。第一節結束時，臺北國（台灣）29-22仍領先7分。本節李學林得到了10分。
第一節中華的內外結合打得非常好，第二節他們延續這種策略，並打出5-0的開局將領先優勢擴大到12分。此後竹內讓次兩次內線得分，幫助日本將差距縮小。比賽也進入僵持狀態，在本節還剩5分52秒時，五十嵐圭命中三分，幫助日本將比分追至33-39。臺北國（台灣）趕緊請求暫停調整戰術，暫停後田壘中投命中，張智峰罰中1球，臺北國（台灣）再次將比分拉開。然而節末臺北國（台灣）內線再次失守，竹內讓次上籃得手後，又壓哨打三分成功，幫助日本在上半場結束時，將比分追至43-49。
日本是上屆亞洲男籃賽的亞軍，但是實力已經下降不少，面對臺北國（台灣）的瘋狂衝擊，他們的防線漏洞百出。第三節日本率先拿下2分，但之後張宗憲獨砍6分，臺北國（台灣）打出11-0的進攻高潮，將比分拉開到60-45。在伊藤俊亮上籃得手後，臺北國（台灣）又打出7-0的小高潮，雙方的分差已經達到20分。雖然日本希望通過暫停能逆轉局勢，但臺北國（台灣）打得絲毫不放鬆，在第三節結束的時候，臺北國（台灣）73-53仍領先20分。
第四節日本展開了瘋狂的反撲，但是他們的外線三分命中率並不高，而臺北國（台灣）則穩紮穩打，雙方的分差也一直維持在20分左右。在比賽還剩5分30秒的時候，陳子威圈頂命中三分，臺北國（台灣）已經將比分拉開到86-62。比賽徹底失去懸念，最終臺北國（台灣）以99-79大勝日本，成功晉級八強。

TIANJIN (FIBA Asia Championship) - Wildcard entrants Chinese Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) showed more variety in their offensive plays and defeated fellow East Asian nation Japan 99-79 in a crucial Group E game on Wednesday.
The win helped Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) finish their eight-final round with 2-3 record and take the last available quarterfinal place from Group E.
Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) will now play against the top finishing team of Group F in the quarterfinals slated for Friday.
"It's quite an achievement entering the last eight in this highly competitive fray," said Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) coach Chung Kwang-Suk.
"We've had our ups and down. I'm glad we made the quarterfinals," Chung added.
Japan, who finished 1-4, failed to make the top eight for the first time in the FIBA Asia Championships. They will now play the 9-12 classification.
"It's not easy talking about of a losing team day in and day out," said Japan coach Osamu Kuraishi.
"We are going to salvage as much as possible in the classification and play for national pride," Kurashi added.
"But more importantly we will run a thorough analysis on what went wrong when we get back home," he said.
Japan held the scoring edge in the first five minutes of the game but a 10-0 run turned the tables in Taipei Republic (TAIWAN)'s favour.
Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) didn't allow Japan to even the tie scores after that.
Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) unleashed a scorching 14-4 scoring advantage in the first five minutes of the second half to take the game further away leaving Japan no chance to recover.
Tseng Wen-Ting led the Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) cause, especially in that third quarter charge. Tseng returned a game-high 20 points, 14 of them in the second half.
Lee Hsueh-Lin and Chang Chih-Feng had held the Taipei Republic (TAIWAN) campaign on course before that.
Lee scored 15 of his game's 16 points in the first half. And Chang contributed 12 for the game, 10 of them in the first quarter.
Tien Lei was consistent throughout for his 16 points.
Joji Takeuchi and Kei Igarashi shared the scoring honours for Japan with 18 points each.
Igarashi was more consistent but Tokeuchi scored 16 of his game's score in the first half.
